What are GRP Pultruded Profiles?

Within construction, pultruded profiles are a crucial element to offer stability where it’s needed most. An integral structural component, pultruded profiles have been used across all industries for many decades thanks to their low-cost, reliability and simple yet effective production process.

GRP, or Glass Reinforced Plastic – otherwise known as fibreglass, is combined with isophthalic polyester resin to create composite parts. This pultrusion process allows for high volumes of identical components to be made using highly automated machinery that can shape a component within seconds.

GRP pultruded profiles can be simple, or can feature more complex cross-sections, depending on the industry and use required. Each of the GRP pultruded profiles manufactured here at HR Kilns meet BS EN13706 E23 standards and make for an ideal long-term alternative to more traditional materials such as steel and wood.

Are GRP Pultruded Profiles safe?

Over the years the way pultruded profiles are manufactured has evolved to keep up with new ways of working. As such, GRP pultruded profiles have largely taken over more traditional materials such as aluminium and concrete to offer a faster, more efficient – but above all else, safer, way of working.

GRP materials are lighter to work with, cheaper and are ultimately more robust, offering resistance to degradation as a result of environmental factors. It is thanks to these qualities that GRP pultruded profiles require less maintenance, last longer and are more versatile for a huge range of sectors. This makes them amongst the safest options on the market when it comes to in-demand composite parts.
